Google celebrates the Drive-InToday marks the 79th anniversary of the first drive-in theater opening in Camden, New Jersey in 1933. The first drive-in was patented in May of the same year by Richard Hollingshead Jr. For the first showing, motorists were delighted to view Adolphe Menjou’s Wife Beware and enjoyed refreshments and popcorn from the comfort of their automobiles.

To celebrate this anniversary, Google is offering a short clip on their home page, www.Google.com but the video is hosted on YouTube as well. When notable historical events have their anniversary, Google has always offered unique and often interactive Doodles as a way to commemorate them.
